1. World Agriculture and Food Summit held in 2018 Jharkhand.

Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh inaugurated Global Agriculture and Food Summit 2018 at Ranchi in Jharkhand. Seven countries, including China, Israel, and Malaysia, are participating in this two-day summit. Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das and Chief Minister Ayyub, Amitabh Kant, along with many dignitaries attended the inaugural function.

2. Hindustan Unilever Board approves merger with GSKCH India.

FMCG major Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has announced that its board has approved merger with GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (GSKCH India) through all equity deals, after which the total turnover will be Rs 31,700 crore.



3. FSSAI launches new campaign to eliminate trans fat by 2022.

Food Safety and Standards Authority (FSSAI) started a new public media campaign to eliminate industrialized trans fats in the food supply. The 30-second Public Service Announcement (PSA), called “Heart Attack Rewind” – is the first mass media campaign to transition into India in the year 2022 with the World Health Organization (WHO) global goal for the complete eradication of trans fat. FSSAI’s global goal will be to eliminate fat.

4. Moody’s Outlook Estimate India’s real GDP growth of 7.2% in FY 2018-19.

In India, the annual banking system of Moody’s Investors Service has been estimated to increase the real GDP of the country for the current financial year and the next fiscal year by 7.2% and 7.4% respectively.

5. Mauritius SBM gets RBI approval for joining Indian subsidiary.

Raninder Singh became the first Indian to be selected from one of the four vice-presidents of the International Shooting Sports Association.

9. Katowice Climate Change Conference 2018 was organized in Poland.

The United Nations Climate Summit, i.e. the COP (Conference of the Parties), is a global conference, during which action is taken for climate policy. The Climate Change Conference was organized in 2018 Katowice, Poland. The conference theme was, ‘Translating Climate Finance Needs into Action’.

COP 24 is the informal name for the 24th conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

10. India’s first engine-less train ‘train-18’.

India’s first locomotive-less train ‘Train-18’ has been done at a speed of 180 kilometers per hour during the test run in Kota-Sawai Madhopur section of Rajasthan. With 16 coaches, the train will have the same passenger capacity just like the Shatabdi Express. ‘Train 18’ will start its commercial run from January 2019.
