Indian Polity: Comptroller and Auditor-General of India(CAG)
CAG is mentioned in the Constitution of India as per Article 148-151. chapter V in Part V The Union deals with the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India. The CAG is responsible for audits all receipts and expenditure of the Government of India and the state governments and maintaining the accounting of state governments. CAG reports are kept in mind by public accounting committees. CAG has the same status as a judge of the Supreme Court of India.
Appointment Of CAG:
The Comptroller and Auditor-General of India are appointed by the President by the recommendation of Prime Minister. On appointment, he/she has to make an oath or affirmation before the President of India.
