Biography Of A R Rahman(Music King of India)
Allah Rakka Rahman is a famous musician of Hindi films. King of music, Rahman has given music in many languages other than Hindi. Rahman is the first Indian to be awarded the Golden Globe Award. A. R. Rahman is the first Indian to get three Oscar nominations for his music in the British Indian film Slum Dog Milner. Best Grammy Award for Best Soundtrack Compilation and Best Film Song category for the song “Jai Ho” of the same movie.
In August 2011, in the line of the UK-based global music magazine, Rahman made “the music of tomorrow’s global music”.Rahman’s film career began with the 1990 Tamil film Rosa. Later Rahman, while working in the Indian film industry, international cinema and theater, Rahman’s music records became one of the evergreen music.
Childhood of Rahman
Rahman was born in Tamil Nadu on January 6, 1967. His name was AS Dilip Kumar at birth. 1989, the younger sister of Rahman had fallen ill. All doctors said that there is no hope of survival. Rahman Solicited for his younger sister in mosques, soon afterward brought his request his sister miraculously became healthy. On seeing this miracle, Rahman accepted Islam.
In Rahman’s biography ‘The Spirit of Music‘ has been told how he changed his name when asked by an astrologer. Rahman told in an interview that it is also true that he did not like his name. One day when my mother went to an astrologer to show my sister’s horoscope, then that Hindu astrologer advised me to change the name. Then my name is changed from, Dilip Kumar, to AR Rahman.
AR because it was because my mother wanted to add Allah Rakka(means blessed by God) to it too.
His father died when Rahman was nine, and the family had to sell musical instruments for money. While working in the band group, he received scholarships from the Trinity College of Music, from London, where he earned a degree in Western classical music.

The name of AR Rahman’s wife is Saira Banu. They have three children- Khadija, Rahim, and Aman.
A journey of Rahman’s career:
At the age of 11, Rahaman used to play keyboards for synthesizers, with his childhood friend Sivamani. He used to work for the band of Iliyaraja. Rahman is credited with establishing the Chennai band “Nemesis Avenue”. He used to play keyboards, piano, harmoniums, and guitars.
In 1991, Rahman started recording his own music. In 1992, he was invited by film director Mani Ratnam to give music to his film Rosa. The film was a musical hit and Rahman won the Filmfare award in the first film. Continuing with this award, the victory of Rehman’s victory continues till today.
Today they are counted among the top ten music composers of the world. Music in films such as Tahajib, Bombay, Dil Se, Rangila, Taaja, Jeans, Pukar, Fiza, Lagaan, Mangal Pandey, Swadesh, Rang De Basanti, Jodhaa-Akbar, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Yuvraj, Slum Dog Millennial, Ghajini Has given.

- As a child, he could be seen in the Doordarshan Wonder Balloon (Name of the serial in national TV), where he was famous for playing 4 keyboards at the same time.
- While honoring him in November 2013, names of some places in Markham, Ontario, Canada were named after him.
- In Limca Book of Records 2007, Rahman was given the “Most Famous Indian in Music Region” award.
- In spite of international success, Rahman never left the song in South Indian films.

Today Rahman’s name is taken in the world’s famous musicians; he has influenced the whole world with his art. His followers do not appear to us all over the world, but only in India.
