All schemes launched by Narendra Modi 2014 to 2019- Part-3

Important government schemes launched by Narendra Modi from 2014 to 2019. We already discussed the part-I and Part-II of schemes. Here we discuss third Part of schemes.


1. National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana(नेशनल हेरिटेज सिटी डेवलपमेंट एंड ऑग्मेंटेशन स्कीम )- HRIDAY

Aim: Development of core heritage infrastructure projects.



About Scheme:

National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Scheme (HRIDAY) was launched on January 21, 2015, with the objective to bringing together urban planning, economic development and heritage conservation in an inclusive way to preserve the heritage character of each Heritage City.

The Scheme shall support the development of core heritage infrastructure projects including the revitalization of linked urban infrastructure for heritage assets such as monuments, Ghats, temples etc. along with reviving certain intangible assets. The scheme has an outlay of INR 500 crores for four years.

2. Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana(राष्ट्रीय वयोश्री योजना)- RVY

Launched Date: 21 January 2015
Launched By: Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment
Aim: Provide physical aids and assisted-living devices for senior citizens belonging to BPL category.

About Scheme:

“Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana”, a ‘Scheme for providing Physical Aids and Assisted-living Devices for Senior citizens belonging to BPL category’ will be launched in District Nellore, Andhra Pradesh on 1st April 2017.

Important features of the scheme:

1. It will be fully funded by the Central Government.
2. The scheme will be distributed free of cost physical aids and assisted-living devices for senior citizens belonging to BPL category.
3. Beneficiaries will be identified by the State Governments/UTs through a Committee chaired by the Deputy Commissioner/District Collector.
4. The Committee can utilize the data of BPL beneficiaries receiving Old Age Pension under the NSAP or any other Scheme of the State/UTs for identification of senior citizens belonging to BPL category.


3.Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana(प्रधानमंत्री कृषि सिचाई योजना)- PMKSY

Launched Date: 02 July 2015
Launched By: Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation.
Aim: Provide improve water use efficiency in agriculture and expand the cultivable area under assured irrigation.

About Scheme:

Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) has been formulated with the vision of extending the coverage of irrigation ‘Har Khet ko pani’ and improving water use efficiency ‘More crop per drop‘ in a focused manner with an end to end solution on source creation, distribution, management, field application and extension activities.

PMKSY has been accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) of the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation. Under this Yojana with an outlay of Rs.50,000 crores for a period of 5 years (2015-16 to 2019-20) is to achieve convergence of investments in irrigation at the field level.

Watershed Development: Effective management of runoff water and improved soil & moisture conservation activities such as ridge area treatment, drainage line 5 treatment, rainwater harvesting, in – situ moisture conservation and other allied activities on a watershed basis.


4. Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency Bank(माइक्रो यूनिट्स डेवलपमेंट एंड रिफाइनेंस एजेंसी)- MUDRA Bank

AIM: To encourage entrepreneurs and small business units to expand their capabilities and operations.

About Scheme:

Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency Bank (MUDRA Bank) is a public sector financial institution in India. It provides loans at micro-finance to micro-finance institutions and non-banking financial institutions who provide loans to MSME(Micro Small Medium Enterprise). The MUDRA banks were set up under the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana scheme.

The bank will classify its clients into three categories:

Shishu (शिशु): Allowed loans up to ₹50,000 (US$700)
Kishore (किशोर): Allowed loans up to ₹5 lakh (US$7,000)
Tarun (तरुण): Allowed loans up to ₹10 lakh (US$14,000)

5. Zero Defect, Zero Effect Scheme(प्रधानमंत्री जीरो डेफिसिट जीरो इफेक्ट स्कीम)- ZED

Launched Date: 15th August 2014.
Launched By: Narendra Modi
Aim: Make India a global manufacturing hub and to reduce the bad effects of products on the environment and match the Global quality control standards.

About Scheme:

The scheme is launched to increase the quality of products matching global standards for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Sector.
This Scheme ensures that all the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises are delivering High-quality product using clean technology.

2. Increased social and environmental benefits.
3. Generation in Employment.
4. It may control the pollution level in some of the largest cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata.


6. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana(प्रधानमंत्री उज्ज्वला योजना)- PMUY:

Launched Date: 10 May 2016
Launched By: Narendra Modi
Aim: To safeguard the health of women & children by providing them with clean cooking fuel– LPG.

About Scheme:

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) is the government’s flagship programme to provide free cooking gas (LPG) connections. The PMUY scheme targets to reach out to provide free LPG connections to 80 million families by 2020.

All the poor households can avail the benefit from PMUY and it will not be mandatory to be part of the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) list or the seven identified categories under the programme to be eligible for the scheme. The initial target set for the scheme was to provide 50 million LPG connections to below poverty line (BPL) families by 2019. The government has also recently launched LPG Panchayats to promote the PMUY scheme.

7. Pradhan Mantree Aavaas Yojana(प्रधानमंत्री आवास योजना) –PMAY:

Aim: Providing  a cheap homes for poor people

About Scheme:

Poor people who do not have a home can apply online. The online application for the city of Prime Minister Housing Scheme is also open in 2018 and any eligible person can apply for the scheme.

Who can take advantage of the Scheme?

1. Those people who already have a home or whose family has a house, can not take advantage of this scheme.
2. The applicant or his family should not be the surest house.
3. Under the scheme husbands, wives and unmarried sons, daughters are included in the family.
4. It is necessary to give the Aadhaar number of family members in the application form.
5. Any married or unmarried adult member earning can be considered as a separate family.


8. Banks Board Bureau-BBB

Aim: Providing Cheap homes for poor people

About Scheme:

Banks Board Bureau (BBB) is an autonomous body of the Government of India. To improve the governance of Public Sector Banks, recommend selection of chiefs of government owned banks and financial institutions and to help banks in developing strategies and capital raising plans.

  • Give recommendations for appointment of full-time Directors as well as non-Executive Chairman of PSBs.
  • Give advice to PSBs in developing differentiated strategies for raising funds through innovative financial methods and instruments and to deal with issues of stressed assets.
  • Guide banks on mergers and consolidations and governance issues to address bad loans problem among other issues.

9. Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana(सांसद आदर्श ग्राम योजना)- SAANJHI:

Aim: The development of villages as an Adarsh Grams

About Scheme:

Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana is a rural development program, which is focusing on the development of the villages in a wide range, including social development, cultural development and spreading inspiration among the people on the social development of the village community.

Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana was initiated to bring the member of parliament of all the political parties under the same umbrella while taking the responsibility of developing a village.

Under this scheme, each member of Parliament needs to choose each village in the constituency except for his own village or his in-law’s village and fixing the criteria, it is made an ideal village by 2019.

10. Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana(प्रधानमंत्री जनऔषधि योजना)- PMJAY

Aim: The development of villages as an Adarsh Grams

About Scheme:

September 2015, the ‘Jan Aushadhi Scheme’ was revamped as ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana’ (PMJAY).“Jan Aushadhi” was originally started by UPA Government.
Govt. Of India, to provide quality medicines at affordable prices to the masses through special kendras known as Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra.
The Jan Aushadhi initiative will make available quality drugs at affordable prices through dedicated stores selling generic medicines which are available at lesser prices but are equivalent in quality and efficacy as expensive branded drugs.
