1. WHO global situation report on road safety-2018 released.
Recently, the World Health Organization has released Global Status Report- 2018 on Road Safety. The report says that the number of deaths in road accidents is increasing steadily.
The WHO report says that the number of people killed in road accidents has increased to 1.35 million annually.
According to the report, the rate of a death toll in road accidents in India is 22.6 per 100,000. In the cities of India, traffic accidents have decreased and through the medium of media campaigns and strong enforcement, the number of people drinking and driving in most cities has decreased.
2. World’s highest railway bridge in Manipur is constructed.
According to a recent announcement made by the North East Frontier Railway (NFR), the world’s highest bridge is being built in Manipur. It was also announced to increase the speed of construction of this bridge. This bridge is being built on the river Iring of Manipur.
According to the information released by the Ministry, this bridge will be 141 meters high, which is higher than the 139-meter high bridge in Montenegro, Europe. Till now the pillars have been prepared for this bridge.
3. India successfully tested Agni-5 missile.
Successfully tested Agni-5 on December 10, 2018. This is the seventh test of this missile. The Agni-5 missile that struck 5500 km was tested on the seashore of Odisha.
4. Shastikanta Das appointed 25th Governor of Reserve Bank of India.
Shastikanta Das took charge as the 25th Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on December 11, 2018. His tenure will be three years. He has been appointed in place of Urjit Patel.
5. Three million children in the world are on the edge of death: UNICEF report.
According to a new report of the Global Coalition including the World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), nearly three million premature births are on the edge of death.
This report has been published in the name of ‘Surviving and old: Improvement in Every Small & ill New Baby Care’. There are many types of problems in children born before time. Most of these problems are to take care of the children during childbirth.
6. Bijendra Pal Singh was appointed Chairman of FTTI.
The Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry has appointed Brijendra Pal Singh for the post of Indian Film and Television Institute (FTII) on December 13, 2018. He was Vice President of FTII. He has replaced veteran actor Anupam Kher.
7. Kerala CM Pinaray Vijayan inaugurated the Kannur International Airport.
Kerala is the only state has four airports. Kannur is the fourth international airport in the state. The other three are Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, and Kozhikode and with the commissioning of KIAL, Kerala becomes the state with the highest density of airports in the country.
8. Dam Safety Bill 2018 introduced in Lok Sabha.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Water Resources Arjun Ram Meghwal introduced the Dam Safety Bill 2018 in Lok Sabha.
The bill aims to provide a robust legal and institutional framework for the safety of dams under Central and state governments.
9. Delhi High Court stops imposing online sale of medicines.
The Delhi High Court banned the sale of drugs on the Internet by the online pharmacy on December 13, 2018. These medicines include medicines written on the doctor’s prescription.
In the petition said that a large number of children use the internet and they may be victims of wrong drugs. Online pharmacy drugs are working without a license and they can not be regulated in the current situation.
10. Kamal Nath to be Madhya Pradesh’s 18th Chief Minister.
Congress nominated veteran leader Kamal Nath as next Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh on December 11, 2018. Congress party chief Rahul Gandhi took a decision after a long debate in the meeting held with senior leaders in New Delhi.
11. NABARD signed USD 100 million agreement with UNFCC.
National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) signed a loan agreement worth USD 100 mn with Green Climate Fund (GCF) to boost rooftop solar power capacity projects through the private sector participation.
12. Indian Railways launched new Buddhist Circuit Tourist Train for the 16-day pilgrimage tour.
Indian Railways’ catering and tourism arm IRCTC announced the launch of the Buddhist Circuit Tourist Train. he Tourist Circuit will consist of destinations including:
Delhi, Bodhgaya, Nalanda/Rajgir, Varanasi/Sarnath, Lumbini, Kushinagar, Sravasti, and Agra.
13. CBSE conducts the largest ever Central Teacher Eligibility Test.
The Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE), conducted the largest ever Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) at 2144 centers in 92 cities across the country.
14. Operation Oliver: Coast Guard started operation to protect the turtle.
Indian Coast Guard has launched ‘Operation Oliver’ as part of its annual mission to ensure the safe mid sea of breeding olive riddle sea turtle breeding in the Giharmatha Sanctuary area, Devi river mouth and Rashikuliya beach of Odisha.
15. Prathamesh Maulingkar, hailing from Goa, India, became the first Asian/Indian Mr. Supranational 2018.
Pruthamesh Moulingkar of Goa, dubbed as Mr.India, defeated 37 candidates in the third edition of the competition held in Krinika-Zdrój, Poland, becoming the first Asian / Indian to win the 2018 Mr. Supernation title.
16. Lepa Rada becomes the 24th district of Arunachal Pradesh.
December 2018, Arunachal Pradesh gets its 24th district – Lepa Rada, a day after Shi Yomi became a new district.Lepa Rada is carved out of the Lower Siang district, comprising four administrative circles – Turbin, Dari, Sago, and Basar.
17. Jammu and Kashmir have become the first state for women to ban sexual exploitation.
14th December 2018, Jammu and Kashmir became the first state in the country to enact a law banning sexual exploitation of women “by those in positions of authority, having a fiduciary relationship or a public servant”.
18. President Ram Nath Kovind’s 5-day visit to Myanmar.
On December 10, 2018, President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind embarked on a 5-day maiden visit to Myanmar.
2 MOUs were signed in the areas of judicial and educational cooperation.
Shri Ram Nath Kovind paid his visit to the Advanced Center of Agricultural Research and Education (ACERE) at Yazin Agricultural University in New Pyro Tao. It was established under the Bilateral Friendship Project and it is funded by the Government of India.

20. SWIFT India appointed former SBI chief Arundhati Bhattacharya as board chairman.
December 10, 2018, the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) appointed former Indian SBI Chief Arundhati Bhattacharya as the new Chairman of the Board.
