World AIDS Day: To aware People about HIV and AIDS

World AIDS Day is celebrated on 1 December every year in the whole world to make people aware of AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome). Human Immuno Deficiency (HIV) is an epidemic disease influence by virus infection. AIDS day is celebrated for aware to the people by different organizations, NGOs, civil society and other health officials by organizing the discussion in AIDS-related speeches or public meetings.

The US president made an official announcement for World AIDS Day in 1995 to aware the world, which was followed by other countries around the world. According to a US government report, about 2.5 million people died in 1981-2007 due to HIV infection. Even after using HIV treatment in many places, in 2007 about 2 lakh people were infected with this epidemic disease.



World AIDS Day celebration worldwide the most recognized health day festival at the international level. World AIDS Day provides vital information for health organizations to raise awareness among people, to facilitate treatment and many other precautions, as well as to discuss prevention measures.

World AIDS Day 2018:

In 2018, World AIDS Day will take place on Saturday, December 1. The theme of this year was: ‘Know your position‘ This means that every person should be aware of their HIV status.

History of World AIDS Day:

World AIDS Day was first conceived in August 1987 by Thomas Netter and James W. Bann. Both Thomas Netter and James W. Banana both were WHO (World Health Organization) public information officer for Geneva, Switzerland’s AIDS Global Program. He shared his idea with Dr.J Mann(Director of an anti-AIDS program ), who approved this idea and started celebrating AIDS day on December 1, 1988. They decided to celebrate AIDS day at the time of Christmas holidays or other holidays. He decides to aware of AIDS and HIV when there was a holiday like Christmas day. people can give more attention to news and media broadcasts.

Activities on World AIDS Day:

  • World AIDS Day increase awareness of the people and disseminate the message of that particular year.
  • The Family Planning Association of India, Indore Branch is working to educate people through sexuality education, counseling, research, training / therapeutic (SECRT) project.
  • ‘Faith’ The Holy Spirit is the human initiative of the Sangh. Its objective is HIV-free society.
  • India has more than 5 million AIDS sufferers There are more than 20 thousand people in the city.
  • AIDS are also shared with the needles for addiction.
